#HAIRTALK

  • Every highlight service is customized and unique, just like every client that sits in our chair. We don't believe in cookie cutter or one size fits all services. We have trained, studied & mastered different techniques so that when you you sit in our chair we can use our expertise and experience to combine any and all techniques to create the look you are going for. So we may stick to one technique or use a combination of all.

  • This is a traditional head of highlights using foils that give you an all over light look. This is perfect for the ladies that love to be very light from root to end.

  • Balayage is both a highlight **technique** & **look**.
**The technique** originates from France and is hand painted onto the hair with no foils. This technique creates warmth in the hair, similar to what happens to the hair after a summer in the sun.
**The look** is lighter around the face, slightly darker at the root melted into lighter ends. It grows out beautifully and more naturally so you don't get an obvious regrowth line and can wear it for longer in between appointments. You can achieve this look with the traditional technique or foils may be used when warmth is not desired or when the natural color is dark.

  • Whether its color or cut, some scenarios may require more than one visit to achieve your #hairgoals. We call these sessions :) This is discussed in the consultation part of your appointment.

  • Gloss is a semi permamanet color that comes in clear & tinted shades and can be added to any service. Sometimes a gloss is necessary to achieve a look you are going for. Glosses can be used in many different ways like : Maintain Color & improve results over time. Correct yellow & red tones that make hair look brassy. Refresh faded lengths & ends. Deepen or darken color. Add smoothness and shine.

  • Brassy is when your color fades exposing the pigment underneath which tends to be undesired warm tones like orange or red. Also when blonde hair picks up mineral deposits in water and fades to a undesired yellow tone.

  • ReFresh is when you use a Gloss to freshen a color that has faded or correct brassy tones in the hair. This can be done the same day as a color or cut service or in-between appointments to keep the hair looking fresh at all times.

  • This is basically breakage insurance for your hair... It keeps it healthy during color services. So if you want to be extra blonde or you are just concerned with your hair feeling different after a color service- this is what you want to add on. You can add Olaplex to any color service to restore compromised hair.

  • Includes everything from deep purples and blues, all the way to more subtle pastels such as lavender & pale pink and the popular rose gold and silver toned colors. You can add pops of color to your highlights or go full mermaid. This is just an add-on to a lightening service. Consultation is required for a full transformation look.

  • It is a formaldehyde free, next generation smoothing system that uses the latest advances in science, along with only the finest ingredients, to create a product that delivers the results of a traditional keratin smoothing treatment without the harmful chemicals. Works on all hair types and lasts up to 5 months on average. This is a great alternative to harsh and dangerous straighteners that remove all of the curl and leave the straight and limp.

  • This is a cutting technique that removes bulk and heaviness from the hair. This is the key to a better haircut and allows for the haircut to look good for a longer amount of time.

FAQs

  • This depends on the length. Shorter hair like a pixie cut should be cut every 6 weeks, a bob should be every 7-8 weeks and longer layered can be about 10-12 weeks. If you have fine hair you should get it done more often because the wear and tear is usually more visible. The longer you go past these time frames, the more likely your hair will lose it's style & shape and will be prone to split ends and breakage.

  • We understand that many people have had bad experiences in the past at other places. That's why it's so important to us to have a thorough consultation with each client where we talk about the desired look and agree upon how much is going to be taken off. No surprises :)

  • We hear you! Whether you are growing your hair from a pixie to shoulder or shoulder length to long, YES you still need to get your haircut. Pixies can grow out beautifully and avoid the awkward phase with regular cuts. For longer hair, you may think that not cutting is the answer but split ends will cause breakage and not allow your hair to grow to the length you want. It's about maintaining the health of your hair. Regular trims will keep the ends healthy and will give your hair shape and style as it grows out.

  • We love teaching our clients tips and tricks on how to style their hair at home. It's important to know that if you want a beach wave style and you have straight hair or if you want a straight look with wavy or curly hair... it will take some effort & time to achieve these looks at home. Looks that embrace your natural texture will take minimal time and effort. Either way, products are an important part of getting the look you are after. That's why we love Hairstory and its less is more approach with just 4 products! Check out our Hairstory page for more info on that.

  • There are a few things you can do to keep your blonde its blondest. *Book your next appointment at the end of your service to ensure you come back in the time frame needed for your touch-up. Each customized highlight will have its own time frame to come back and that will be discussed during the service. *We suggest changing from shampoo to New Wash because it does not strip your hair or the gloss which will keep it looking fresh!*Gloss in between Highlights appointments, It may be necessary to come in before you are due for highlights to take care of any brassiness.

  • This is actually a great one! I love it because most people assume they are doomed to a life of SP, all over permanent color once they see greys coming in. The truth is you can start out with Grey Blending- where you use highlights & lowlights to blend in the grey. This keeps the hair looking very natural and the grow out is low maintenance. If you are at the point where the greys are too much, instead of going straight to permanent color, you can start with a semi-permanent color which fades as it grows and also leaves you with a more natural grow out. Whatever it may be, don't be shy to bring it up to your stylists so you can learn about what option would be best for you!

  • A lot of people assume all highlights are super blonde but this is just not true! Highlights can be any shade lighter than your hair so do not fear if you are looking to add some lightness without going all the way blonde. A great way to start is by doing a natural face frame- its just enough highlights to give you a feel for the color and by the time your ready for a touch up you will most likely be craving for more or lighter!

  • Most clients don't know the exact words to describe the look they are after. Luckily, we have so many years of experience that we speak your language. Every service comes with a consultation where we will take the time to understand what it is you are looking for. We love Pictures and they are also a great way to communicate without having the right words. Just pick pictures that look similar to your hair type and texture.

  • Haircolor has come a long way and actually contains way less chemicals than ever before. Because it has become such a major concern for consumers, haircolor companies are constantly improving their formulas. But we also took it to the next level by carrying the highest quality products which includes ammonia free permanent and semi permanent color. We are in love with L'Oréal Inoa for permanent- it fully covers grey and is oil based so it adds amazing shine to the hair. We have actually found The tones to look very natural in the hair.
